A. Frall – Three-Masted Clipper Harvest Home at Sea, Watercolour
Original watercolour by A. Frall, depicting the three-masted clipper ship Harvest Home at sea. The vessel is shown broadside in full sail, with flags flying and a dark hull set against a bright blue sea and sky. The composition follows the traditional format of a ship portrait, presenting the vessel clearly and decoratively while still giving a strong sense of movement across the water.
The named subject gives the work added maritime interest. Harvest Home is believed to relate to the 19th-century Liverpool-built clipper/barque of the same name, associated with the age of fast commercial sailing ships and long-distance trade routes. The image captures the elegance and working power of these vessels, with the full rigging, sails and hull carefully described.
The work is signed lower right and presented in a glazed gilt composition frame. A decorative and characterful marine watercolour, well suited to collectors of nautical art, ship portraits and maritime history.
