Description
After Charles Hunt – Grand Stand, Goodwood (Coming in for the Gold Cup 1838)
A striking large-scale colour print after Charles Hunt’s celebrated racing subject, depicting the excitement of the finish at Goodwood as the horses come in for the Gold Cup of 1838. The composition captures the energy and spectacle of one of Britain’s most iconic race meetings, with the charging horses in the foreground, dense crowds gathered around the course, and the grandstand rising prominently in the background.
Rich in period atmosphere, the print has strong decorative appeal, particularly for interiors with an interest in sporting art, equestrian subjects, or nineteenth-century British racing imagery. Its generous scale and handsome mahogany frame give it real wall presence, making it a particularly effective display piece.
This is a later reproduction after the original nineteenth-century image, and is offered as an attractive and characterful framed print.
